So here's what I've been doing. MAN I CAN'T WAIT TO BE A REAL ARTIST. From here on out-- if I am going to be posting fan art at all, I think I'm just going to make big ol' fan art collection posts because they really shouldn't be here anyway. Sorry all of you who don't read Homestuck. Actually I'm not sorry at all, because all of you guys should be reading the hell out of it.

Happy Father's Day

one and all!

This is a painting I did for my dad. I found all the photos I took in India a few years back and picked out like... 200 of them for really the perfect references for everything. Everything. Every picture I've been looking for in the library and online. IT'S HERE. ALL HERE. MY GOD.

So I'm really happy!

This is just a tiny little cardboard acrylic painting with ink on top. It's tiny IRL, so... I didn't resize it when I scanned it and now it's HUGE. *sorry* I think it came out alright. I miss paint. Do I miss acrylic? Jury's still out on that one.

We started the day pchatting, and decided on a moe theme. I did The Merchant, she did Krauser. Fuckin' A.

And then the inevitable happened.

And then here's where it gets interesting. I was like "Hey Angela... nice little john you got there" and we laughed heartily. And then we ran with it. For like 4 hours. Through the golden fields of openCanvas 1.1.

And it was glorious and we watched the strangeness that is Rock-a-Doodle and also the ever beloved Robin Hood.

The Start of Summer

Oh Blogger, I've been needing you so badly.

First painting of the summer! Photoshop to oC5.

I'm always in such a hurry to post things. Let me know if you see any glaring anatomy flaws (or any other general criticism) and I'll work on it some more. In the meantime, here's a lady falling down. Sorry for the huge file! Oh man, this thumbnail doesn't look good. This looks absolutely terrible on my laptop screen compared to my legit screen... uh... welp

Oh man. These last few weeks have taken a lot out of me. I don't think I'll be posting any of my finals, as they're embarrassing and not very good.  Maybe I'll work into some of them some more. As for my 24-turned-28 page comic.... uh. I'll color it and we'll see just how presentable it is.

It's always hard to re-integrate myself into a place where people demand attention when you're working. I think I'm getting better at it, though. I'm far less crabby! Maybe.

Ohhhh I'm starting to regret my lack of internship. ;____________;

(I have been craving a blogpost for like a week, but sadly I have NO ART gotta get on that)

Okay guys! Class participation time!

I'm not usually one to post works in progress, but I would absolutely be eternally grateful if I could get some crit on these! I'd say these are... what, halfway done? 1/4th done? I dunno. Tear 'em apart!! I beg of you!

Specifically, I want to know how I can keep these painterly but also have them look finished. My guess would be to have more color and texture variation? Ideas?

Portrait - 8 page comic finally scanned!

I'm actually a little nervous about posting this-- it may not be as entertaining as you might expect, but please know that this took many hours and I'm pretty proud of it anyway. Sorry if these images are too big, I decided to keep them high res.

These are all traditionally penciled and inked on 8"x13" Bristol. The assignment was to go to the RISD museum, chose a piece, and write a semi-fictional piece about it and turn it into an 8 page comic.

Dooooooodling

Oh blog, how I have missed you.

I need to draw more pin-uppy, 20's, 30's fashion things. Here's my first one. It's really just an inconsequential doodle, nothing to worry about.

I also need to stop using black outlines and... you know what, there's a lot that I need to do.
Museum comic's done, will photocopy tomorrow and scan. I'm about 8 pages in to my 24 (now 25!) page comic.

Photoshop CS3 works! Without any lag! Hooraaaaaaay! Drawings forever~

8 Page comic is done! Did I say that already? I forget. Just gotta edit a few things, then I'll scan it and put it up here for you lovelies.

Today was craaazy successful! Got an A on my 9 page Romare Bearden paper, and did an okay-looking Jamie Hewlett portrait done with Corel Painter for Digital Illustration class:

LOOK AT THIS WONDERFUL MAN. Is he not the best man. <3 Actually, if you want to look at this wonderful man, you should probably Google him, I didn't do him much justice.
The portrait was really fun to do! (I might work more on it later)

Sitting here with the windows open. About to take a nap, done with tomorrow's homework, listening to Radiolab with peppermint chocolate. Feeling pretty good.

It's just so gorgeous outside and I'm in such a good mood and I need to show people that I'm actually doing things and not nothing.

What, why is April almost over

Right now I'm sitting here inking this accursed 8 page comic on a Friday evening and I feel great. <3

This is just one of those nice little manic emotional highs. You know, when you feel compassion for every living thing and all that junk.

Have some more figure drawings! They're pretty quick. Uhhh. More better art coming up soon-- what with final projects and all that. I decided on my 24 pager-- robot and little girl story. LELAND, YOU SO ORIGINAL~

But whatever, it's going to be fun. Near impossible, but fun. And also better than the book I did last semester.

I think I have a problem of not producing enough art. I'm a little worried, to be honest. Everything I do feels like practice for something better that will eventually happen, and at this rate I'll have nothing for my senior show. Maybe I'm spread too thin over too many things? I guess this summer I'll just have to buckle down and GET BETTER AT EVERYTHING.

Also, where did all my Radiohead go?? I had every album!

Spring Break

Was glorious. I wish I lived on an organic farm or something, where there was nothing obstructing the sky. 

I think I've told everyone this, so I'll shut up about the sky that was INCREDIBLY BLUE ON SATURDAY HOMYGOD.

So I had a ton of homework and got barely anything done but that's totally okay because I'm still in vacation mode and don't care about anything except for feeling good. Here are two of my 4 observational paintings that was assigned this week. (I'm totally supposed to have 10 but SHUT UP it was my only break.) They're not very good, but I only spent a day on each. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME.

Portfolio reviews on FREAKING WEDNESDAY I'm suddenly nervous as all hell. I was so excited today, now I just want to die. Or maybe I'm just nervous about my extra special early midterm on Thursday. Either way, I think they're both going to go poorly.
I was gonna go nap and instead I'm freaking out. Seriously, I think I just worked myself up into a frenzy. And then there's internships on top of that which I haven't even DONE yet fffffffffffffff

The first one is just a sketch I colored for myself. The second one is a drawing for my little friend who was in the hospital recently for an operation. Pretty serious stuff.

And now we're playing Secret of Monkey Island. Very charming and funny game. If it were a guy, I would date it.

Also also I was totally decadent and went out and bought a massive 22" screen for my computer. It's absolutely gorgeous. And I am filled with guilt. But this is something that was done on a screen, so I feel less bad.

Home for the weekend

I don't think being home is good for me. Fills me with anxiety, and I get angry and frustrated very easily. Despite the fact that I always want to be home when I'm at school.

Computer will soon have 8 gigs of RAM. DEAR GOD.

I've been watching Porco Rosso over and over and over and over and I just can't get enough of it.

Also I just bricked my mom's brand new computer monitor. Whoops. :(
